Is CBD Legal?

A major issue to combat now is the fact that many seem to be confused about the legality of CBD hemp oil.

The simplest way to explain this is by pointing out the difference between industrial hemp and marijuana grown for recreational use; they are not the same thing.

The hemp plant is often confused with marijuana because they look alike and belong to the same ‘family’ of plants.

The biggest difference between the two, however, is the fact that marijuana contains a significant amount of THC (the most abundant cannabinoid in the plant) while hemp contains a slight amount (almost 0%) of THC.

Harvesting the CBD oil from the hemp plant instead of marijuana ensures the safety of consumers and that the law is being observed.

CBD is a compound in both the hemp and the marijuana plants in low amounts but the difference is that the THC content is also extremely low in hemp. Due to the high THC content in marijuana, CBD oil from marijuana is prohibited in the US, except for states that have issued special licenses for marijuana to be used for medical purposes. This has prompted some, for research purposes, to specifically grow the marijuana plant to contain more CBD than THC.

On the other hand, CBD hemp oil is legal in all 50 US states.
